ABOUT THE ALBUM:

Tougher and more political than ever before, THE SWIPES are furious about the grim social issues of today’s troubled times. The current generation and resources of the planet mercilessly subordinated to the power-political interests and the boundless greed of a small economic elite and their corporations. Never before has global wealth been distributed to fewer minds, never before has the exploitation and pollution of our planet, as well as climate change and its consequences, been more apparent. Wether the effects of advancing globalization, the indifferent sale of water rights to large corporations like Nestlé, the commonplace populism in Europe, the catastrophic earthquakes in Nepal, the blind eye turned to the media’s lies or Europe easily shrugging off the refugees who drown in the Mediterranean Sea – it is time to raise your voice and to make this world a better place.
This album is the system critical soundtrack to it.

Musically, THE SWIPES are doing a great job: the band’s former garage rock has been mixed with aggressive yet melodic punk rock elements, alternative rock moments and 60’s & 70’s bonds are flashing everywhere on the all-new album. The musical references and hat tips to other artists and eras seem endless: Sometimes it sounds like The Hives („Wonderland remote control“), then like Refused & Blur („Generation Slave“), suddenly like The Knack & The Hellacopters („Water gate“), then like The Rival Sons followed by Weezer („No medals, no honor“) and The Smiths & The Who („Parody of love“). There are undeniable traces of  The Sonics („Keep smiling for the end of the world“), a breeze Leatherface & Hot Water Music shimmers through („Qudrophobia“) and in the end Iggy Pop is married to Oasis („Scripted reality“).

Something can not work? But it does. Here and now.
